FLAX POND PROJECT

Hide Show Flax_0010_Background Flax_0009_Background Flax - Gazebo Flax - Gazebo1 Flax - Gazebo2 Flax - Gazebo3 Flax - Gazebo4 Flax - Play equipment Flax - Splash Pad1 Flax - Splash Pad2 Flax - Splash Pad3 Flax - Splash Pad4	Improvements to Flax Pond include the installation of new children's play equipment, asphalt replacement and resurfacing of existing basketball and tennis courts, installation of new wooden guard rail along Chestnut Street, new fountain/aeration system at Chestnut Street cove, installation of a new metal Gazebo at the intersection of Chestnut St. and Carter Rd., replacement of old walks with new concrete walks that allow the police to patrol through the park and completion of a new, automated children's Splash Pad. Funding was secured from a Massachusetts State Grant (PARC) in the amount of $490,000. The Department of Community Development allotted $210,000 in CDBG funds. A Grand Opening for the Splash Pad and Fountain was held in August 2011. The Splash Pad and Fountain will be in operation from April – November. A Grand opening was held for the Gazebo in October 2011.
